Indian Classical performing arts of dance and music  have a highly evolved system of transmission which is pervasive in India even today wherein, the  teacher student relationship is  the most significant factor.  Which In its highest form it’s the communication of minds which transcends all other considerations. It is the one spirit with multiple arms of one body which sums up the Indian world view and its concepts and its strategies of concretisation. The master disciple transmission line is one such life line of translation of the spirit into the body, which exists on various planes.

 

At the other end of this tradition , where the movement comes to a full circle is the “peshkar” or presentation – rather more importantly “interaction”  of the artist (student in this case) with the society  and of the art form with the society …. also seeks to establish a mutual dialogue between the artist  and the society. A kind of reciprocation with the society.

Classical arts from time immortal were a realm of the class of people of the society, and hence the class of people  are invited for this interaction .  The aim is not the end but the “process” in which we the artists are “being ourselves” you the “class” coming to witness the gradual evolution of the artist… the address to the art form …. Its is  about ---  Our society, our people our art --- for us… for the development of “US”  as individuals and as a society and of art.

 

On the personal plane for the student It is for the first time the “student” flowers into artist and learns to stand by himself or herself.  It is for the first time the artist within interacts with the society. It is for the first time the student begins to see herself or himself in his or her art form into the mirror of the society .

 

This presentation is an important step in the parampara – tradition on Indian Classical Arts, which aims to initiate a dialogue , appreciation and understanding of “ mutually being” by both the artist and the society , and penetration of the values of Classicity on both the ends.
